Antient Greece
When erepublik started Greece was among the first countries to exist. The first ever leader of eGreece was a female known as Eunike, December 2007.
As erepublik grew so did eGreece which sprung into the first era of eGreek civilzation known as the Capelli King era. Capelli King is believed to be a real life Cypriot and managed to seize power in April 2nd 2008, after the three parties: Spartans, The Family and the Greek Nationalist Party formed into the United Greece Party in late May 2008.
The era was short lived but one of the earliest that eGreece was ruled by real life Greeks. Then a group known as the goons under the leadership of Rathen Holton appeared. Goons in real life nationality were foreigners mainly Americans that took over countries out of power and money hunger.
Rathen Holton created the goon led Greek Republic Resistance party and then challenged Capelli King Administration in June, 2008. At first the Capelli King adminstarion laughed at these political invaders but following the results of the 20th of June it became a serious matter. The Greek Republic Resistance Party started doing well in the elections and Capelli King realised that his grip over eGreece was coming to an end. Hence he printed 4.6 million GRD which created Hyperinflation in order to undermine the GRR party who seized power in June.
While the GRR goon party began seizing power in eGreece, eTurkey ruled by goons also declared war on eGreece following the eGreek media questioning Kemal Ataturks Sexuality in June 20th and complaints from real life Turks...
First balkan War
The Turks began invading eGreece and were at the time seen as a strong power. Romanian and Bulgarian soldiers were pitched to fight alongside the Greeks against the Turkish invaders (allied by Iran and Indonesia) but this was not enough.
The Turks had soon conquered Thrace, Aegean Islands, Macedonia, Crete, Epirus, Peloponese and the Ionian islands. The Bulgarians at first fought on the side of eGreece but when Turkey threatened to invade them they opted for Neutrality in the war.
The goon vice President John Daker managed to get Greece to join (despite Turkish veto) the alliance FIST which in July 23rd allowed them to gain support from the Dioist Empire of Pakistan (which back then was a large Empire controlling India and China). This saved eGreece from total annihilation. Just before the election this coalition of soldiers saved Central Greece from invasion.
The Turks had been PTOed by Pheadrus Lidox (leader of the Turkish Liberation Front), a pro eGreek goon who managed to make a peace settlement with the Goonish government of eGreece (despite allowing the invasion), known as the treaty of Athens in which Turkey was supposed to give back Greece's territories (The Turks got scared and attempted to get Oncre now known as Battlalgazi in power but failed as they lost 500 fake votes). This never happened because resistance wars did not exist and the admins thought it would be to much effort. During John Dakers Presidency, he assumed control of all eGreece...
Forced Friendship
During this era various bizarre things happened. Lamia, capital of Central Greece became known as New Athens due to its economic powers. Athens in July 2008 was renamed Rathens , in honour of the Goonish leader Rathen Holton. An alliance known as the Byzantine Empire was formed between Greece and Turkey under the hands of the goons. Pheadrus Lidox attempted to rename Istanbul - Constantinople but failed... Despite this Greece and Turkey remained forced allies until December.
In this era there will also attempts by goonish leaders Ikarti and John Daker to reduce Hyperinflation caused by Capelli. They improved it but did not fully repair it. Greece was at this stage reduced to only Central Greece.
Second Balkan War
On the 4th of December, after the Turks managed to fully seize control of their own country and invade Israel, they declared war on eGreece with the aim of destroying Greece. In eGreece a leader known as Efthimios Pappas, a real life eGreek campaigned for President of eGreece. He won the elections in December 5th but Turkey invaded Central Greece on the same day (Despite Dioist support which by now was weaker then before).
Great Exile
After the invasion many eGreeks went into exile across erepublik, mainly Romania. Efthimios Pappas forged the Greek Liberation Front in eTurkey and together with the Israelites created a resistance movement against the Turks. Many attempts to free Greece and Israel were made, but they all failed until February 2009.
Liberation of Thrace
I started playing the game two weeks in Turkish controlled Peloponeese during this battle. On 19th February following the failure of various resistances across Greece, Thrace, with the aid of the Theocrats and various soldiers from the alliance ATLANTIS was liberated. An eGreek state was established and Efthimios Pappas founded a one party state under the party GREEK GOVERNMENT. Efthimios Pappas is hence the father of the second eGreek Cilvilzation.
Rebuild and Civil War
Once eGreece managed to reassert control over Thrace many new problems arose. Hyperinflation from the Capelli era was still a major issue which could only be repaired through the means of lots of Gold (something eGreece was short on back then). Many eGreeks were still scattered across the globe and Political opposition rose.
Quite a few eGreeks at the time demanded for further democracy and hence demanded a second party, some goons living in the goonish Greece hangover also returned with the intention of seizing power (I foolishly joined them at first). Efthimios Pappas ruled for three terms and when Makoulian seized power in eGreece the GIP party was formed ( I being one of it's first members). Greece’s first Hospital (produced in Spain) was bought on of Gold deal per annum.
A group of goons known as Ikarti, Sledra and Nicole Carpathia plotted to seize power and I became their fourth member. They denounced the Greek government as totalitarian and attempted several times to undermine them and seize power. The result was a major flame war in eGreece which is called by some the Greek Civil War. After being interrogated by Pyros, I soon realised that the Goons did not offer Democracy but wanted to repeat the actions of Rathen Holton (the Goons at this period ruled China under the rule of a guy called Snake). Hence I infiltrated the Goons via Msn and revealed their plans in the surface to the Greek government which destroyed the little support they had gained. They soon faded away due to inactivity or left in exile...
The most hated regime in this era was 1fanmels due to his inactivity which the goons used as a reason to attack the Greek government...
Greece in this period grew and grew with the Arr brothers and various other Greek officials monopolizing the economy. I was at this time working my way up the ranks of the GIP party and started a medium Grain company. I knew little of the Greek Government structure, but I was told that during the Greek Civil War they were keeping a profile on me in the forum where they even speculated I was a Turkish Spy. This was until I worked I cooperated with Pyros.
Various Parties such as the EM (National Front) and the leftists parties began getting formed. The National Front party was formed from the Turkish PEACE GC party which forced Greece to take it’s first anti-PTO measures as well as stop giving anti-PTO support elsewhere.
Then a peak was reached in June 11, 2009...
Turkish Delight
The Americans grew sick of Turkish aid to PEACE GC countries fighting ATLANTIS countries and saw that the Turkish economic power base was centered on Central Greece who's high Iron was responsible for producing mass weaponry. With cooperation from the Greek President Jaguaros and the Israeli President a plan was made under the Americans Chairman of the Army, Eugene Harlot to create a series of Blitzkrieg resistance wars on Turkey.
As a result all of Israel was liberated and Greece regained Macedonia, Attica and Central Greece. The result was an economic downfall in Turkey (who had invested a fortune in Central Greece) and an economic boom in eGreece who had gained the profits of Turkeys lost companies and a raw material in high demand to exploit.
Third Balkan War
Following Turkeys defeat by the joint Greek, Israeli, American and ATLANTIS armies, the newly elected Turkish President mkiziltoprak wanted badly to regain Central Greece which was vital for the Turkish economy and for Turkey to remain a superpower. The Turkish Congress declared War on eGreece in the 8th of August with this incentive. However it was a big mistake on the part of the Turkish Congress. Jaguaros, President of eGreece at the time, was a talented war commander who coordinated the Greek Liberation Fighters during Operation: Turkish Delight. He was also aware of a likely Turkish invasion and had signed many MPPs with other ATLANTIS nations. Following Turkey’s assault their come a long phase of region shuffling mainly after the failed Turkish assaults on Macedonia and Central Greece, but Jaguaros strategically imposed the Turks through manoeuvres involving Crete giving Greece the initiative.
The war ended with Greece regaining all its regions and remaining at a period of War with Turkey until it’s destruction in October 19th, 2010.
WWIII
While eGreece began liberating lost lands, America was being invaded by a joint Coalition force of PEACE GC nations who were interested in Americans vast resources and importance in ATLANTIS. The Spanish lost control of Astrurias, a region vital for ATLANTIS war production and Romania had lost Podolia. The only High Iron region left in the whole ATLANTIS alliance was in Central Greece. As a result Greece played the very important role in the Third World War and was to produce all of ATLANTIS raw materials for weapons. Many Americans, Canadians and Spaniards fled to Greece to help the war effort. However the benefit this created for eGreece was enormous. Hyperinflation had now gone extinct, Greece had started becaming very wealthy and Turkey who had wasted many of it’s resources trying to invade Greece had reached a dark age in its economy where it was forced to rely on solely Grain. In the end the allies won WW3.
This situation also elevated Greece’s ranks in the alliance and made eGreece an important ATLANTIS player in the world. Judging from this, Jaguaros is probably the most successful eGreek leader, turning eGreece from a backward small eNation into a wealthy powerful nation.
Golden Age
s a result of a lot of foreign investment in Central Greece during WW3, Greece started becoming wealthy. There were a few battles here and then between Turkey and Greece and Aegean Islands became the Epic centre. Jaguaros and his predecessors attempted to create ‘Fortress’ region out of Thrace and Aegean islands to help deter invasion. Immigration to eGreece was very high as many foreigners saw eGreece as a fresh opportunity to make lots of Gold. More Parties began emerging and the GIP in particular started to became very influential in early 2010. An American known as Buck Roger took control of the Party after the reign of Balambani (me) and Anthonios over the Party.
As a result the party became revolutionized and very efficient and almost won the elections , until Buck Roger opted out last minute under stress and fled to eUSA felling he was hated by the far-rightist for being an American.
PEACE GC and ATLANTIS were soon renamed and made into Phoenix and Eden following various despites with France and other nations…
Israel and Tall_Niki’s First Empire
Following various periods of Political upheavel in Israel and Turkey, Turkey would often invade Israel to proclaim themselves the best, while Greece would intervene and push the Turks out. This happened over three times in total and Israel became a common battlefield between Greece and Turkey.
Tall Niki managed to establish the first eGreek Empire in February 2010 in which a few Turkish territories were conquered following a bloody battle. Greece at this point was seen as a great superpower, but unfortunarly the Empire was short lived.
Second Greek Empire of Tall_Niki
Nothing much happened in eGreece during V2, except for the fact that Greece and Turkey were still at war but nothing happened as both did not want to risk the battles of V2 which were complicated. The Political theatre in Greece was interesting but wasn’t really active in this era.
The End of V2, beginning of V 1.5 and Nekonts Greek Empire
V2 had ended and the Admins had decided to replace with a weird combination of the old and new servers due to dislike over V2. This was the beginning of V1.5 which saw the addition of eSkopia and eCyprus. Following a violent flame war with the Admins regarding the name of eSkopia many eGreeks left but this did not stop President Nekonts plans.
President Nekont was other ambitious Greek President who sought to destroy Turkey once and for all and the new V1.5 rules regarding alliances give Greece the edge it needed to invade Turkey, and so it did. Nekont armies spilt through Turkey, and the Turks struggled to remain alive making a long bitter resistance in their Eastern Provinces. By October 19th 2010, Turkey no longer existed on the map and Nekonts Dream had been fulfilled. However the Turks did not give up.
They organized a multi-boom and managed to raise over 20,000 Gold to make an 18 day long era of Constant resistance wars and tanking in eTurkey. In the end they managed to liberate it and boasted to everyone how great they were.
Turkish invasion on Cyprus
Following Turkey’s multi-boom, the Turks embarked on an era where they believed they could recreate another Empire. The new resource updates gave the eTurkish administration an excuse to invade the newly made nation of Cyprus and so they did. It was invaded in less than two days. Greece was unable to act as after Nekonts Empire, the long war between Greece and Turkey had closed. The Turks enjoyed the Cypriot grain and dominance over Cyprus but this was also short lived. Cyprus initially was successfully defended from PTO by the Turks and was it’s invasion was unexpected.
Diplomacy with Bulgaria
The eBulgarians were a people fed up of being used in wars constantly by Phoenix. They overall felt like Puppets and had been destroyed three times by Romania due to lack of Phoenix support. They had just reached a stage in which they began forming a large economy and created colonies. With the addition of eSkopia in the game and the realised Phoenix over eSkopia than eBulgaria, Greece began talks with Bulgaria. Following the Bulgarian election,a pro-Eden Bulgarian leader was elected but there was still a lot of political upheaval in Bulgaria regarding loyalty to Phoenix.
Round about the same time, Turkey believing they are the greatest and exploiting the Admins new war rule, decide to declare war on eGreece. This was perhaps their biggest mistake. They failed to invade Thrace, they failed to invade Aegean islands and Greece began marching into Cyprus. Following a tug of war situation in Cyprus, Greece finally managed to claim dominance over Cyprus.
Background to Current Situation
nitially there was small division amongst Greek officials over war with turkey as it was agreed that war with Turkey was draining the economy. Attempted peace proposals were made but they all failed. Bulgaria managed to gain unity behind the banner of Eden and thusly declared war on Turkey and with Greek and Eden support successfully invaded Marmara. The Skopians declared war on Bulgaria and invaded Sofia, while the Turks managed to recapture Maramara. Greece then attacked and Captured Marmara and Bulgaria defended the assault Turkey had made on Plovdiv, but had lost Sofia to the Skopians. The Skopians then assaulted Vidin and captured it.
Greece lost control over Marmara but Bulgaria managed to retake Vidin through resistance and retake Sofia through a long battle. Turkey attacked Burgas and Skopia attacked Sofia. Greece intervened and invaded Marmara while Bulgaria managed to defend itself from the double assault.
Now, the Turks who are pursuing a boycott of the game have become easy meat for eGreece while Bulgaria continues it’s invasions of Skopia. However the current President of eGreece stressed that the invasion of Turkey was only taking place to force eTurkey to sign a peace treaty. The rational behind this is that eGreece’s economy needs reform and that Greece has more interests in the South where new Arab treasures lie.
Greece and Bulgaria have now became best of friends and Bulgaria is now a member of Eden…
